Renter guide
How to read Boston rent reviews
Listings optimize for clicks. Address-level renter notes optimize for the person signing the lease.
Look up the address, not just the neighborhood
“South Boston is fine” or “Allston is loud” is too coarse when two buildings on the same street can feel different. Search the street address first. If peers left structured rent and notes, you’ll see a teaser publicly; full detail unlocks with a free account.
What a useful review includes
- Monthly rent you actually paid and bedroom/bath layout
- Lease-start year context (we don’t publish the exact year publicly)
- Heat, noise, pests, landlord responsiveness, deposit friction
- What surprised you after move-in that the listing left out
What this site is not
Rent Review Boston is not a listings marketplace and not landlord marketing. Reviews are moderated. Public pages never show your name.
